Preparing Machinery for Container Shipping
Proper loading ensures your machinery arrives safely. Follow these best practices:
1. Machine Preparation
- Clean the machine thoroughly
- Drain all fluids (fuel, oil, water)
- Lower the bucket/attachment to ground level
- Secure moving parts with straps
2. Loading Methods
For smaller equipment: drive onto container via ramp. For larger machines: use crane or forklift with custom brackets.
3. Securing the Load
Use heavy-duty straps (minimum 5 ton working load). Add wooden blocking between machine and container walls. Fill empty spaces with dunnage.
4. Documentation
Include packing list, commercial invoice, bill of lading, and certificate of origin. Mark container with machine model and weight.
